The Hudson Field is located in Block 210/24a, approximately 95km north-east of the Shetland Islands, in a water depth of 158m. The development plan for the field involved two separate phases. Phase One consisted of two wells tied-back to a monohull floating production storage and off-loading system, the Petrojarl. Phase Two consisted of a further 2 water injection wells and 4 gas-lift wells which are all tied back to Shell's Tern platform. APA's scope of work included the conceptual design of the pipelines, subsea manifolds, control systems, chemical injection facilities, and definition of the process interface at Tern. In addition, detailed studies of the use of a subsea slug-catcher, and Tern platform riser access methods were also carried out as part of the work. APA personnel also assisted Amerada Hess in the preparation of an enquiry package for manifold fabrication, manifold installation and flowline installation. A number of construction options were considered including integrated towed production systems and reeled bundles. The pipeline construction contract was eventually awarded to Stena (reeled option) on an EPIC basis. |
